Members of the Umu Anioma has elected Mr Peter Onochie President of Umu Anioma in Dakar, Senegal. 

The new development was contained in an official statement signed by the Head of Communications and Publicity, Umu Anioma Worldwide, Mr Anthony Awunor. 

According to the statement, Mr Onochie succeeds Mr Chinedu Uwa Norbert who was the President of the socio-political organisation until the recent election held in Dakar on the 10th February 2024. 

Congratulating the new President, Founder/President of Umu Anioma Worldwide, Prince Ohai endorsed the election of Onochie. 

According to Ohai, Onochie has the leadership skills and necessary temperament to continue from where Bro. Chinedu Uwa stopped. 

“I have utmost confidence in him to take Umu Anioma in Senegal to the next level by building on the unity and peace that the Anioma Community in Senegal has been known for”, Ohai stated. 

In his valedictory speech, former President of Umu Anioma in Dakar, Chinedu Uwa Norbert rallied support for the new President. 

He said “permit me to introduce the strong man with a strong voice that will pilot the affairs of the Deltans/ Anioma community in Senegal. I am very humble to serve my people with all my heart and I am very delighted to handover the batons to one of us, a man from this great family. Please my brothes and sisters of this great family help me to welcome on board the new President of this association. I present to you Mr Peter Onochie. From this hour Mr. Peter Onochie remains the president to be assisted by Mr. Ogoh Okoh. 

In his acceptance speech, Onochie thanked the members for electing him and also the level of trust put on him. 

He said “I wish to extend my deepest respect and appreciation to all the executives and members of this great association. I am deeply touched and inspired by your generous word’s of congratulations and encouragement. With boundless gratitude for confidence and trust placed in me by you all, and with an unswerving resolve to honor that trust, I accept the appointment as the new Chairman and president of this great association.

“I will also like to use this opportunity to extend my deepest respect  and appreciation to our outgoing Chairman in the person of Honorable Chinedu Uwa, the Odogwu of Ewulu in the making. Thank you for counting me worthy to lead the people of this great state.

“I promise to follow in line of your remarkable leadership, and greatly look forward  to your guidance and support. Together we will take this great association to the next level. 

once again my appreciation goes to you all. Thanks and God bless you”, Onochie added. 

Umu Anioma Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit and non-governmental, socio-political organisation of the Anioma people, with bi-sect headquarters in Asaba, Nigeria and Atlanta, U.S.A. 

The association is non-violent advocate for the creation of Anioma State as the 37th State in Nigeria. 

Established in 2010 with membership strength of over 10,000 and governed by a Board of Directors, membership of Umu Anioma is open to all Anioma sons and daughters either by birth, marriage or by association who are sold on the vision of reconstructed value system for the common good of the region and its people.
