… Empowers Over 100 Women With, Cash, Food Items

In commemoration of the International Women’s Day, foremost charity organization, Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation (IAF) on Friday, 8th March, 2024 celebrated women all over the world. 

IWD is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

As part of activities marking the day, IAF gave out lots of items such as food items, cash, grinding machines, blenders goods and provisions to some women at Ubulu Uku in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State, Nigeria. 

Some of the over 100 women who benefited from Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation empowerment include: Rose Nzemeke, Nkechi Memeh, Gloria Osu, Okoye Esther, Udo Odiaka, Evelyn Uwandi, Nwanne Ezedi, Adaonicha Nwamife, Grace Ashibuogwu, etc.

Other women drawn from different quarters in Ubulu-Uku also include: Maria Ofulue, Regina Osakwe, Magdalene Ofuani, Ngala Oba, Stella Ikem, Esther Ofuani, Isioma Odiaka, Franka Ofulue amongst others. 

The event which held at Sir Christian Akamagwuna’s Compound at Akwu Quarters, Ubulu-Uku with the theme: “Invest In Women, Accelerate Growth”, attracted women with different needs, widows, businesswomen, weavers, farmers and others.

Speaking at the ocassion, Founder of Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation, Mrs Isioma Akamagwuna-Oghorada pointed out that, IWD is a reminder to all women that, they can break barriers and accelerate equal opportunities for all women. 

Akamagwuna-Oghorada emphasised that to achieve this feat, women should begin to focus on issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women. 

Some of the participants and beneficiaries of the empowerment applauded Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation, just as they prayed for God’s blessing upon her. 

A participant, Mrs Obianuju Usifoh who spoke at the event said “the reason behind this initiative is that we are celebrating the International Women’s Day. Because of the celebration my sister, Isioma deemed it fit to remember the women and make them understand that they are all celebrated. She has proven that she loves them and they equally appreciate her”.

“The women who benefitted are more than 100 today, They were drawn from different walks of life because people have different needs. For instance, we have widows, business owners, weavers and farmers. Some business owners were given provisions and items to replenish their stock. Others were given food items, cash, amongst others”, Mrs Usifoh added.

Also speaking at the event was the Principal of Ezemu Girls Grammar School (EGGS), Ubulu-Uku, Mrs Felicia Ebube. She equally applauded Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation for their kind gesture.

Mrs Ebube who assisted to present some of the cheques to the beneficiaries prayed and thanked IAF for the empowerment initiative.
