APC Chieftain, Ojougboh Passes On

Foremost politician and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Dr) Cairo Ojougboh, is dead.
Until his death on Wednesday, the Ika chief was Cairo Ojougboh was Director General of the Coalition For Peace and Unity, and former member of the Federal House of Representatives, having represented Ika Federal Constituency
Ojoughoh, who is also the Akinuwa of Agbor Kingdom, died while watching the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory coast.
Ubulu Ezemu gathered that, the chief’s death may not be unconnected with anxiety which built up during the pensive penalty shootout awarded to the teams.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had expressed his condolence to the family.
In an official statement issued by the Presidency on Thursday and signed by Special Adviser to the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu stated that “It is with a heavy heart that President Bola Tinubu receives the news of the passing of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who died on Wednesday.
” President Tinubu condoles with the Ojougboh family and the government and people of Delta State over this tragic loss” .
“While praying for the peaceful repose of the departed, President Tinubu comforts his family and urges them to find strength and hope in God Almighty, who presides over the affairs of men, as well as in the cherished memories and legacy of the late APC chieftain”.
Similarly, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed grief at the passing of Dr Ojougboh.
Governor Oborevwori, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Thursday in Asaba, commiserated with Dr Cairo Ojougboh’s family, the people of Ika nation, Agbor Kingdom and the APC family over the demise of the renowned politician.
He noted that Ojougboh was a grassroots politician and administrator, who excelled in the various capacities he served.
According to the governor, the deceased was a thoroughbred politician whose love for his people led him to contest, and won election to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives.
The Governor said: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of an astute and grassroots-oriented politician, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, who passed on Wednesday.
“The news of his death was shocking, given his invaluable contributions to the polity of the state and the country at large. Until his death, he was a renowned chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.”
Governor Oborevwori regretted that the deceased former federal lawmaker passed when his services were needed more, adding that he would be greatly missed.
He prayed God to accept the deceased’s soul and grant the family and friends he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Also the former Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has commiserated with late Ojougboh family as well.
In his verified Facebook page, Okowa stated that “it is with great shock that I received the sad news of the passing of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, the Akinuwa of Agbor” .
“He was a great politician of note in Delta State and Nationally. He had his style in politics and was a strong voice not only in our state but spoke boldly on national issues. We have lost a strong voice from the Ika Nation.
“On behalf of my family, I extend my condolences to his family and I pray that God will grant them the grace to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace”, Okowa said.
