By Anthony Awunor

The Kingdom of Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State came alive with excitement on Saturday with the recognition of Mrs Uche Mekwunye as the authentic Ada Jesus in Anioma land.

The honour was bestowed on the philanthropist on Saturday, 10th September, 2022 at St Marks Anglican Church, Ubulu-Uku by Venerable Christian Okonkwor (JP). This was followed with a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday,11th September, 2022 after which, a grand reception was held in her honour at Chief & Mrs Uche Ada Jesus Fruitful Mekwunye palatial home at Abuedo quarters, Ubulu-Uku.

The reception was attended by dignatories cutting across different strata of the society among whom were husband of the host, Ekwueme 1 of Ubulu-Uku, Chief Fruitful Mekwunye, a retinue of Chiefs from the Obi’s Palace, Rev Father Ayogbe alongside other clergymen, All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairman, Rev Enunwa and his counterpart, Aniocha South APC Chairman amongst other eminent personalities. Also former Ubulu- Uku Youths Development Council (UYDC), President, Comrade Augustine Enyi, community leader, Mr Mike Dibia and a host of others were present at the colourful ceremony.

While thanking the church and Ubulu-Uku people for their kind gesture, Mrs Uche Ada Jesus Mekwunye said that, with the kind of recognition given to her, she has been encouraged to do more to the society.

To drive home her point, Ada Jesus donated N1 Million cash to the church; $1100 (One thousand, one hundred Dollars) cash to the officiating Minister and choristers with additional N500, 000 to the women.

She also presented a Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel SUV to Rev Ayogbe for his birthday coming up on the 17th September, 2022.

According to Ada Jesus, she decided give out the vehicle to the clergy at the occasion because she may not be in town, as at the time the birthday celebration would take place next week.

Meanwhile, Ayogbe’s birthday is coinciding with the Reverend’s retirement after many years of meritorious service in the Lord’s vineyard.

In his response, Rev Ayogbe from Ubulu-Uku, who was meeting Ada Jesus for the first time, thanked her for the car gift.

This is not the first time Ada Jesus would be giving out car as a gift. In the past, the philanthropist had built houses for many Ubulu-Uku indigenes and had equally given out cars to so many people as a way to empower them.

For her philanthropic dispositions, Ada Jesus had won Ubulu Ezemu Philanthropist Of The Year 2020 and 2021 in a row.
