The Commissioner of Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Engr Lawrence Ejiofor won the “Tourism Personality of The Year 2021” award at the Ubulu Ezemu Awards held 25th December, 2021 at Viva Hotel, Ubulu-Uku.

The award was presented to one of the aides, Mr Chiedu Unini who received the plaque on behalf of the Commissioner.

According to the publisher of Ubulu Ezemu, Anthony Awunor, the Commissioner was selected because of his ability to improve tourism both at the state and at the local level.

Awunor stated that the success recorded during the National Tourism Day held in Asaba is still a milestone worthy of emulation by other states.

Delta had between 26th September to 28th September, 2019 hosted a very successful National Tourism Day under Engr Ejiofor’s watch. Since then, stakeholders have applauded the Commissioner for his ability to demonstrate to the world that Delta is a place to be.

Generally, Tourism in the state has improved since Ejiofor assumed office as the Commissioner.

At the local front, Ejiofor has also ensured that the culture and tourism potentials of the people are being rekindled.

For instance, different communities are now beginning to know the usefulness of their different tourism destinations which abound across the state.

The recent Ubulu-Uku Carnival held in his hometown on the 27th December, 2021 is an icing on the cake, when considering the development of tourism, not only in Ubulu-Uku but in other communities.

The successful carnival has brought joy to the community; it has also created some level of unity amongst different villages and quarters.
