Two Ubulu Uku personalities have been nominated in the prestigious Ubulu Ezemu Awards coming up at Viva Hotel on the 25th December, 2021.

The nominees listed in the Pandemic Diamond Award are: Hon (Mrs) Joan Mrakpor, the Director General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) and Mr Andrew Isichei, Founder/CEO ACI Holdings

According to the Ubulu Ezemu Awards Planning Committee, both individuals were chosen because of the noble roles they played during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hon Mrakpor was recommended for her desire to organise public office holders to assist her people in time of serious need while Isichei was also nominated for delivering large quantities of food to his people during the period.

Beyond the pandemic, both individuals have remained sources of hope as they have continued to voluntarily help those who are in need.

Ubulu Ezemu Awards celebrate and reward excellence to deserving indigenes and non indigenes who have contributed positively to the development of Ubulu Uku community.

According to a statement by the publisher of Ubulu Ezemu, Anthony Awunor, the 2021 edition is scheduled for December 25th, 2021 at Viva Hotel, Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.

Awunor, a multiple award-winning journalist said that, the Award Planning Committee comprising highly respected individuals in the community has drawn out all the categories in the awards, and presently compiling nominations in the various categories.

“The committee is expected to decide the nominees based on a scoring system, that will assess the genuine contributions of each nominee to the society.

Mr Awunor added that members of the committee would pay close attention to areas individuals have excelled, including groups, associations and other organisations.

He said, “In this year’s edition, there will also be a special honour for two individuals who played very active roles during the COVID19 pandemic. This year we will have “Hero of Pandemic Diamond Award” and “Heroine of Pandemic Diamond Award”.

He also said that, like the maiden edition, highpoints of the 2021 awards ceremony would be to celebrate our own people, culture and unite one another.

“Other segments of awards are: “Culture and Tradition Promoter of The Year”, Tourism Personality of The Year, Local Government Administrator of The Year, Philanthropist Personality of The Year, Humanitarian Personality of The Year, Entrepreneur of The Year, Sports Personality of The Year, Youth Leader of The Year and many others,” Awunor added.
