Fire suspected to have emanated from the surrounding bush in Enugu-Iyi area of Ubulu-Uku, engulfed part of St Anthony’s Model College buildings on Thursday, 18th, February, 2021. 


The fire which which started in day light and lasted for several minutes razed down a very big building which was under construction, as there were no fire fighting men to put the fire under control. 


School workers, security men and other members of the school community were seen watching helplessly as the fire raged on. 


Local sources hinted Ubulu Ezemu that the fire caused a lot of damage but added that no life was lost.

“The fire started in the afternoon and it burnt down one of the buildings under construction in the school. It caused a lot of damages but thank God, no life was lost”, the source informed.


Founded in 1956, St Anthony’s Model College is one of the oldest colleges in Ubulu-Uku Community in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State. It was established as an all-male school by the Roman Catholic missionaries.
